Il existe énormément d’articles qui parlent du YM (voir les références ci-dessous: la liste n’est pas exhaustive). Mais, le problème de la compréhension du YM ne réside pas dans la multiplicité des écrits ou des définitions. D’ailleurs, cette multiplicité peut créer une certaine confusion chez le lecteur.
En fait, le YM est tantôt considéré comme une technique ou une pratique tantôt comme une approche stratégique. La traduction du terme, la filiation disciplinaire de l’auteur et le domaine
d’application sont les trois raisons principales de ces nuances. L’origine anglo-saxonne du YM, le fait qu’il soit dépeint par un gestionnaire, statisticien, informaticien, praticien ou théoricien, ou qu’il est appliqué dans le transport aérien ou la restauration paraît ici la principale source de tergiversations (Busuttil, 2001; Capiez, 2003; Koide et Ishii, 2004; Lovelock et Wirtz, 2005).
Ce que je vous conseille de faire avant de commencer la lecture des articles scientifiques est de visiter le forum spécialisé du YM (http://www.forums-hotels.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=2) qui est développé en 2003 par le bureau Revenue Development Consultants.
Ce forum fonctionne sous le contrôle de trois modérateurs qui sont des experts en optimisation de revenus hôteliers. Il regroupe plus que vingt membres actifs et affiche 134 sujets et 669 messages. Etant spécialisé et ciblé, ce forum présente des réponses structurées et très riches en informations pratiques.
